Wrecking Ball marked a major turning point in Harris' artistic career Artistic output. While she had previously been known primarily as a country singer, her sound became more complex and darker with Wrecking Ball, moving further away from her country roots. Highly authentic and independent, Wrecking Ball was awarded a Grammy in 1996 and also boasts a whole series of top-class star guests, including Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Lucinda Williams, Brian Blade, Neil Young and Steve Earle. Iconic producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan, Neil Young Willie Nelson) shone as producer.The re-release of Wrecking Ball follows some very successful years in Emmylou Harris' career. Her most recent album, Old Yellow Moon (2013), recorded with longtime collaborator Rodney Crowell, recently won a Grammy in the Best Americana Album category. Two other awards came at the 2013 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards Show, for "Album of the Year" and "Duo / Group of the Year." In celebration of the re-release of Wrecking Ball, Emmylou Harris and Daniel Lanois will embark on a tour this spring.In a career spanning well over 40 years, Emmylou Harris recorded over 25 albums Albums, contributed to numerous albums by renowned colleagues and received 13 Grammy awards. She was awarded the Billboard "Century Award" and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
